"Glitched as Folk"

  • Lorenzo Swinton Gallery 106 North 2nd Street Clarksville, TN, 37040 United States (map)

Donald creates from the margins, where the weight of queerness and cultural difference has long made him feel like a glitch in systems not built for him. His identity has often been read as an error - an exception, an anomaly. But rather than erasing these dissonances, his work embraces them. Through digital layered collage and drawing with found objects, he makes careful decisions and incisions-acts of resistance and repair - forming provisional spaces within dominant structures.

These interventions are hacks: not in the sense of breaking, but of bending. He manipulates fragments and textures to create a world of new relational code- one that affirms presence, multiplicity, and autonomy. It's in this process that he attempts to write myself into the system, to reroute the static, and to make space where he can simply exist and fit His work is both a question and a declaration: What if the glitch is not a flaw, but a feature of a more expansive, inclusive network of being?
